HunterSage launches strategic plan for Friends of Library
Nonprofit strategist Sheila Terryll and Anne Hunter of HunterSage for Nonprofits joined forces in January 2018 to develop a three-year strategic plan for The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library.
The Friends organization supports St. Paul’s 14 libraries by providing fundraising, advocacy and cultural programming.
The plan will reflect the changing role of libraries – from a place of knowledge in an age of information scarcity to “a trusted community resource and an essential platform for learning, creativity and innovation in the community,” according to the Aspen Institute Dialogue on Public Libraries, released in 2014.
Heather Anfang, VP of marketing at Land o’ Lakes, is chairing the strategic planning taskforce. Beth Burns, executive director of The Friends, is co-leading the effort. St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter kicked off the board planning session with his vision of the role libraries play in creating a more equitable, inclusive St. Paul.
